Makeshift wine sauce

Making dinner gets interesting when you're a ballin' on a budget.

Being that it was Sunday and the weekend's treasures have left a lingering presence, I was craving some good comfort food. And with so many bomb ass Mexican joints around, the temptation to throw 5 on it sets in thick (especially when all you want to do is chill on your couch and teleport food to your mouth).

This is when you tell yourself to man up and get creative. Pull your ass off that couch and see what you've got. Because when there is a will there is a way.

After eye-ballin' the 2 buck chuck and debating whether I should dance with the hair of the dog, an idea crept in like a hangover in afternoon: pasta with a homemade wine sauce. Now let me be real for a sec, I fucking love pasta. I could easily live off of it (as I did for most of college). It always makes me feel better. It's delicious. And I could kiss the pasta gods everydamnday for the rest of my life for bestowing me with such culinary greatness. Anywho, enough of me and my pasta fetish. Here's the real reason you're reading this:
cheap homemade wine sauce.

I've never made this before tonight. But newness has never stopped me. Only enticed me.
Let's start with some ingredients, shall we?
Olive oil
Butter
Garlic
White wine (preferably 2 buck chuck)
Spinach (optional, but not really because shit's dank)
More garlic (obviously)

Pour olive oil in a skillet and press some garlic into that bad boy. Sautée it gently.
Add butter and wine (whatever floats your boat).  And then pour yourself a glass because you really should just embrace the dogs' hair anyway.

Let is simmer for about a glass of wine and then throw some spinach on it.
And sauté it sweetly.

Toss some pasta into that bangin' creation and BOOM. Dankalicious.
Pair with some baked veggies from your garden and you've got yourself a party.

Cheers!

Start Me Up

My morning routine is crucial to my day. And since we've moved I've had a hard time implementing my beloved rising practices. But today I finally got a chance to start my morning the way I like.. with a serene yoga sesh, a grounding meditation, a blissful outlook, and an open gateway to creativity.

Yoga is creative movement, and I feel best when I allow my practice to guide me. I listen to my body, dive into the present moment, and freely move wherever my heart desires. It's these precious moments, where my mind, body, and soul sync up to create art that I feel I am expressing my true self. It's liberating and empowering yet grounding and humbling.

I love to complete my practice with a short meditation. I am still learning to dive inward, so I use a guided meditation to help me fine stillness. This is the one I listened to this morning. Check it out! And tell me what you think! Also, I'm always looking to try something new! Do you have any suggestions? I would love to trancesnt to them.

Ounce I've got my mind right and body is feeling refreshed, my soul starts to shine through. I'm instantly happier, eager for fun, and enjoy the simple things like making breakfast, brushing my teeth and getting ready. Being the creative being that I am, its probably no surprise that I LOVE creating outfits. My style allows me to express myself. And each day brings a new element to the table. So here's today mood! After listening to Stevie Nicks, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Rolling Stones Pandora, I decided it was a slashed leggings and oversized sweater kind if a day.

Here's a glimpse of some of the details. Pardon the angle, I tried to make due on my lunch break!

With such a beautiful day outside, it's hard to not have a wonderful day. But I know that my morning regime allowed me to open up today's wonder with welcoming arms and gratitude.

And for that I am thankful. And still ready for action. Cuz' once I start I'll never stop ;)

Holy Guacamole

My favorite snack at the moment... guacamole! I bow down in gratitude for whomever made this glorious concotion.

I pair mine with carrots, cucumbers or whatever chips I have on hand.

Ever since our move to San Diego...I've been on a mission to eat ALLLLLL the mexican food. I'm thinking a quest to find the best burrito in San Diego is in order. Maybe a new little blog series to document the process.
Any suggestions?

I probably overdo it on the garlic...but yolo dgaf swag.

I need some toothpicks so I can start growing an avocado tree!! Excuse me while I run to the store :)

May your day be as glorious as this guac!

Work Hard. Lay Hard.

We started this morning on a blissful mission: to decorate our beach castle abode and enjoy every minute of our day off!

Given that we absolutely LOVE getting creative, decorating our home surely put our minds in a colorful place. Armed with some eager decor and a beach castle vision, we headed out to grab some flowers and hardware!

Michaels came in clutch. With 40% off florals, we scored some awesome goodies and got down with a bouquet discount!

We ended up creating some epic bouquets, hanging EVERYTHING we had to hang, cleaning, and making a deliciously healthy dinner. Thank you espresso machine. I'm sure you had a little something to do with our productivity.

We even had time to enjoy the sunset from our beautiful view.
Here's a shot with a glimpse of our neighborhood.
Dat garden doe..

After today's creative projects, we are happy to report our beach castle is starting to reflect our vision. (We'll post the glorious progress shortly!) And what better way to end the day than with a treat from Happy Head Massage! Nestled in the heard of Hillcrest, this little sanctuary treated us like queens and rocked us like babies. Pampered, relaxed, and feeling zen, we're now cuddling up on the coziest couch in the world.

Goodnight and sweet dreams loves. May your night be filled with peace & love.

Featured for February Month of Love on Fab You Bliss.com!

Today is the day! Our Heart On Her Sleeve Editorial Shoot by Let's Folic Together was released on Fab You Bliss

There were many inspirations & ideas envisioned for this shoot. It was truly a beautiful thing to see them all blossom into something unique & special. A bit vintage and slightly alternative, this modern wedding shoot is anything but ordinary. It has a melancholic vibe with an essence that's romantically enchanting. The feel is wedding-esque, yet subtly fashion forward. This was creativity at its finest-- pulling elements from various inspirations and creating something not entirely reminiscent of those sources, but something on its own.

We are very blessed to have had the opportunity to work with these incredible souls.

Check out the full feature here!

Life in a Sunset

How delectable would it be to live in a sunset for eternity? There is something so enthralling about those colorful moments. Just for a few moments a day, the sky shows its aura and it captivates ours. Nothing seems to matter in those minuets, except for the beauty of nature and its majestic essence.

It would be an absolute dream to live forever in those cotton candy clouds. I imagine they would smell like peace and taste of pure bliss. Nothing would ever be of worry there, for everything would be perfect just as it is.

But then I start to wonder... why can't this dream be a reality? Why can't we live this way everyday? I am convinced that we only think we cant because we believe we can't. And all we have to do to live in bliss is to eat, breath, and think bliss. We must believe in bliss in order to live in it.

Every moment can be like those sunsets. We are capable of filling each moment with colorful thoughts and good vibes. So let's take a lesson from this time of day, and radiate positivity for all to absorb and be inspired by.

Let's show our true colors, shine bright, and light up life.

Inspiration du jour pt1

Morning dolls!

Decided to start a daily feature where we post what has been tickling our fancy, catching our eye and making us swoon.

Keep scrolling for some eye candy!

Leather jacket designed by Christian Benner. So inspired by the story behind his success! Reminds us to stay grinding.

Surprised with a beautiful boquet from the one & only Sunny. New goal: be more thoughtful!!

My tranquil new work space has me feeling so so grateful.

Cheesy photo of a Crystal light bulb fixture I found on eBay. This needs to be screwed in before our next party because a girl has GOT to get down with her bad self.
Ashtanga primary series. Since I moved from my beloved yoga studio...I've been lacking a consistent practice. Ashtanga is meant for home practice. You are holding each pose for a total of 5 deeeeep breaths. I had trouble knowing how long to hold a pose and what sequence to flow with, so this has been a nice treat!

What has been inspiring you?

Live & love today in light!

CANDY CRUSH

For those who don't know what the Gaslamp Quarter is... it is a glorious street full of bars, clubs, restaurants and shops galore located in the heart of downtown San Diego. Luckily, we just happen to be in walking distance!
Two single ladies on Valentine's venturing out for the first time to Gaslamp Quarter.. taking our candy hearts sugar high to a whole 'nother level!
(Gotta make sure those shoes are tied tight...)

After hitting a few places and taste testing their Long Islands, it wasn't long before we found ourselves chit chatting it up with strangers and scouting out the best places to get down with a discount $

We even managed to throw a stereotypical bathroom selfie in the mix.

After a few hours of bar hopping and a couple shows later, we frolicked home to continue the party with our neighbors. More wine, climbing on top of our roof, and helping our parents unload all of our shit once they arrived at 3 in the morning. Super sweet way to celebrate a day of love!

Riding the waves of a candy heart sugar rush is the best way to celebrate Valentine's!

Ask and you shall receive: Liner Mag Teaser

We received some goodies today from @kellysearle of #Liner #magazine! It's such an honor to be apart of their very first issue. Right before we met Kelly, Alyssa and I were just talking about trusting the universe and riding the waves of life with confidence and ease. I went on and on about how the time we have now is a gift and we can use it to do all the things we've always wanted to do. One of those things being creative pursuits, like booking photo shoots and getting back into the flow of creative collaborations. And the next thing you know, Kelly appears like an artistic goddess and pops the question.. So here's to following your heart and trusting your instincts. Because even when things may seem as if they're not all put together the way you think they should be, there is still a little voice inside telling you that everything will be okay and that all your dreams are falling into place. And that they will be here before you know it. So just take it one step at a time. Be patient. Be present. And trust in yourself. For the world will treat you as you treat it. #staypositive #lawofattraction
